Sustainability, Animal Welfare and Sheltered Workshops

sustainability · animal-friendliness · inclusion

inspired by a mission

For us, sustainability is not a separate chapter. It lives in how we produce, what goes into the bottle, who makes it — and where our profits go.

  • 100% vegan formulas
  • aluminium bottles · infinitely recyclable
  • locally produced
  • 10% of profits to good causes
Walking the dog in nature
why we do this

the same standard for people and dogs

For people, things are fairly well regulated: since 1976, the European Cosmetics Directive (76/768/EEC) has protected the safety, transparency and quality of care products. For animals, nothing of the kind exists.

1976 Since then, care products for people have been legally protected for safety and transparency.
0 That is how many comparable rules apply to dog care. Manufacturers can put almost anything in — without oversight, without accountability.
1:1 We hold dog care to the same high standards that apply to people. Because we believe things simply have to change.

After all, whatever you put on a dog's skin deserves at least the same care. With your help, we can make the difference: by choosing safe, transparent care, you send a powerful signal — our dogs deserve better.

Together, we are building structural change. For now. And for the future.

our approach

sustainability, seen more broadly

When we think of sustainability, we think not only of CO₂ emissions, but of a sustainable life for people and animals alike. That holistic approach shapes every choice we make — from production process to packaging.

01

locally produced

The production process should be as sustainable as possible. That is why we produce locally.

02

100% vegan

All of our dog care products are vegan.

03

aluminium instead of plastic

We use hardly any plastic, because our bottles are made of aluminium. And aluminium is 100% — infinitely — recyclable.

04

fair work

Sustainability should also contribute to people's happiness. So not merely free from slavery or child labour, but making a positive difference.

animal-friendliness

animal-friendliness is in our dna

Sadly, not every dog is as fortunate as your four-legged honorary family member. Worldwide, 600 million stray dogs carry painful diseases and go hungry. Travels to countries such as Nepal and India, but also Eastern and Southern Europe, have shown us that the dogs we love so dearly are having a very hard time.

This has motivated us to commit to helping stray dogs in Europe. We start by easing their suffering through feeding them. And who knows what we can do in the future to solve the problem.

Stray dogs at a shelter
what we do in practice

there is work to do close to home, too

The Netherlands is the only country in the world that is free of stray dogs. That is something to be proud of. But wrongs happen here too: illegal puppy trading, animal abuse and dog fighting sadly take place on a large scale in our little country.

  • 01We donate 10% of our profits to good causes.
  • 02Helping stray dogs in Europe — starting with food.
  • 03Contributing to greater awareness, including through our blogs.

With your help, we can take a first small step.

inclusion

our sheltered workshop

For people with an intellectual or emotional disability, taking part in our society is very difficult. In a sheltered workshop, they can develop themselves and build friendships and even relationships. Here they can be happy and experience a real sense of fulfilment.

Inclusivity means that everyone is accepted by society and can take part in it to the fullest. Where social acceptance falls short, a sheltered workshop meets this need.

  • NOT JUST OUTPUTBecause output is not the only thing that counts at Frenky Lewis, we give more attention to every individual leash.
  • MORE THAN A PRODUCTTo us, it is not just a product, but also a way to reintegrate into the labour market. That is why every leash receives more attention than anywhere else.
