Brushing doesn't have to be a battle. With this ritual you keep your dog's coat airy, healthy and tangle-free — without painful combing.
Important first, for curly, shedding and double coats: water pulls existing tangles and loose undercoat into an impenetrable layer of felt. So always brush the coat through thoroughly before washing.
Step 1: Prepare & protect
Never brush a dry coat; this causes hair breakage.
- The Frenky Lewis choice: first spray the coat with our hypoallergenic, fragrance-free Coat Spray. This makes the hair elastic, protects its structure and forms a heat shield for the blaster.
- Tip: you can also use the Dry Shampoo & Conditioner Spray in one of the three scents for this.
Step 2: Locate & the layer method
- Locate: use the blaster to gently blow the coat open. You'll see right away where the deeper tangles are hiding.
- The layer method: brush with a flexible slicker brush layer by layer from the bottom up, right down to the skin, for an airy, perfectly groomed result.
Step 3: The detangle check
Use a metal comb (antistatic stainless steel) as a final check. Cheap plastic combs create static electricity, which actually attracts new tangles. The comb should glide through the hair without resistance.
- Come across a stubborn knot? Apply Detangling Cream locally, massage it in gently and brush it out.
- Extra check: always pay extra attention to the notorious tangle spots: behind the ears, in the armpits, the groin, the ‘trousers’ (hind legs) and under the collar or harness.
Step 4: Finishing touch
Finish the ritual with the Dry Shampoo & Conditioner Spray. This seals the hair cuticles for maximum protection, creates a silky-soft finish and leaves a subtle wellness scent behind.
The coat care advice
- Detangle check — at least 3× a week. To catch early matting in Doodles or curly coats right away.
- Thorough brushing — at most once every 1 to 2 weeks. This keeps the coat voluminous and healthy without overloading the hair.
Why traditional dog care brands fail
A market without rules. Today's pet industry has no cosmetics laws or regulations. Manufacturers make massive use of cheap chemicals that have long been banned in human cosmetics.
- The danger of SLS and silicones: regular shampoos cleanse with aggressive industrial sulphates (SLS) that wreck the skin barrier. Synthetic silicones coat the hair in a layer of plastic, suffocating the skin and causing structural itching.
- Frenky Lewis commits to the strict European Cosmetics Directive for humans (76/768/EEC) and puts dog wellbeing first. We formulate our fragrance line 99.5% natural and our hypoallergenic care line 100% natural. In doing so, we help reduce coat problems such as flaking, matting, tangles, itching and irritation.
- Absolute safety: we voluntarily comply with the strict European human cosmetics standard, and test and develop our products with professional groomers. Anything that isn't safe enough for you doesn't go on your dog's coat.
Frenky Lewis — the new standard in natural dog care.
